ROCHFORD: Police hunt after attempted abduction

Police in Rochford are warning the public to be wary after a young girl was approached by a man who tried to abduct her in broad daylight.
The 12 year old girl was walking towards the shops at around midday on Friday (July 30) when a man approached her from behind in Ashcombe near its junction with Holt Farm Way and grabbed her.
She says that he held a gloved hand over her mouth and had a knife. Fortunately she was able to kick out at the man and was able to run off.
The man is described as white, wearing a black, long sleeved top, black jeans and black leather gloves
Police immediately searched the area and made house to house enquiries but no one was located.
Detectives want to hear from anyone who was in the area and has any information about the man described.
Ds Bob Evans told longpier.com:
“This is an extremely worrying incident that happened in broad daylight. We need to find the man responsible.
“The girl remembers an elderly woman pushing a shopping trolley in the area at the time of the incident and I appeal for that woman or anyone else with information to contact me at Southend CID on 0300 333 4444.”
Hi, I have been following events closely this year. And now firmly believe that there is a serial pedophile on the loose, attempting to kidnap young girls throughout Essex.
He struck four times in March and now may have committed three crimes in July.
Here is a description I have compiled from news sources:
- Age range of 40-50
- Perhaps missing some teeth
- May have tattoo on upper right arm.
- PERHAPS has a scar down left leg
- Grey hair
- May be driving a BMW.
- His car is possibly a hatchback with blacked-out windows
Most of his crimes seem to involve attempting to forcibly drag children into his car. The description of the knife attacker is sketchy, we don’t have his age-range or hair colour. But it would make sense for him to try even more putrid means of abducting these children if his original MO didn’t work.
The fact that it happened in broad daylight is also another sign that it could be the same guy.
He’s not a genius or a skilled planner. He’s a sick individual driven by urges people like us cannot understand. All his instincts are telling him to attack these kids and so he does it in broad daylight, with no planning or forethought.
Let us be thankful that so far he has not succeeded.
