SUFC: Bookies predict tough season for Blues

On the eve of the Southend’s first game in League Two, bookmakers are predicting a season of struggle for the Shrimpers.
Paul Sturrock’s men play Stockport in the 2010/11 opener at Roots Hall on Saturday (7th August), and the team he picks is likely to feature only one player who started the final game in League One last season.
The turnover of players and the financial upheaveal at the club has led top bookies to give short odds on the Blues dropping out of the Football League.
Both Coral & William Hill only give you 4/1 on Southend being relegated. You’ll get 40/1 with Coral on the Blues winning League Two, or 4/1 on promotion.
William Hill will give you 25/1 on Blues topping the table come May and 4/1 on promotion.
SkyBet will only give 7/2 on relegation, whereas BlueSquare offer 7/1 on Blues being promoted.
SkyBet will also give you 33/1 on Blues winning the division, the shortest odds are currently 14/1 with bwin.com
